The 3 Spa Treatments That Will Replenish And Revitalize Your Skin

Approaching skin care Spa Treatments: Just like any other organ, your skin serves several purposes that are vital toyour well-being: how well you take care of your skin, will determine how wellYour skin will take care of you Do you look like an extra who just crawled out from an episode of The Walking Dead?Do you have skin that rivals Frankenstein’s? Then look no further… Actually… don’t be so mean to yourself. Those who have neither not-so-great skin norSelf-deprecating humor is most likely to find the sentences above amusing, but in all honestyNot having nice-looking skin can make you feel not so good about yourself, and that is okay.Very few of us have perfect skin, and for those who do have flawless skin, you’re very lucky. As for the rest of us mortals, we look sickly when we don’t get enough sleep, we flake when it’scold, and we break out whenever our body decides it doesn’t like us. Spa treatments for skin Maintenance The unfortunate truth is that most people don’t take the health and maintenance of their skin asseriously as they would their physical or mental health. Many people don’t even pay attention, ormake a point of taking care of their skin, until they can see that there’s something wrong with it.And honestly, that approach to skincare is comparable to those who don’t brush their teeth dailyuntil they get a cavity: it’s questionable. Just like any other organ, the skin serves severalpurposes that are vital to our well-being: how well we take care of our skin will determine howwell our skin will take care of us. Spa treatments – Creating a stable foundation Now, before we get into what will replenish and revitalize your skin, we should first discuss whatYou are regularly taking care of your skin, because no matter how expensive the spayou’re going to is, your daily skincare routine is the bread and butter of your skin. Having a good skincare routine will not only support healthy skin, but it will also amplify the results of professionaltreatments as well.If you are familiar with skincare and know the current trends, then you know that some routinescan be quite complex, such as the 10-step skincare routines that Koreans are known to use. However, if you’re just getting into skincare or have sensitive skin, be as basic as possible. Morning and night routine So let’s do a quick run-down of what you should be doing morning and night:1. Use a Cleanser – washing your face is important in removing impurities and any gunkYou’ve gathered on your face 2. Use a Toner and/or a Chemical Exfoliant – toning tends to minimize the appearance ofpores and smooths down texture. Chemical exfoliation helps remove dead skin cellswithout being as abrasive as physical exfoliation. You can use both a toner and anexfoliant; however, keep in mind that chemical exfoliants should be used 2-3 times a week, andtoners are usually safe to use every day (unless the formulation is too strong)3. Use a Serum – Serums come in different variations, choose a serum best suited to your needsskin care needs.4. Use a Moisturizer – using a moisturizer, cream, or lotion helps replenish, rehydrate, andprotect the skin5. If it’s the morning, use Sunscreen – it protects against the ultraviolet radiation from the sunwhich can cause sunburn, skin cancer, discoloration, and speed up the signs of aging. Now onto the Replenishing and Revitalizing Most people know how important it is to maintain oral hygiene; however, no matter howcommitted you are to the health of your smile, it’s recommended to get your teeth professionallycleaned by the dentist every six months. The same thing can be said about skin care, though youcan take good care of your skin from the comfort of your home. There are still some skintreatments that should be conducted by a licensed professional. Getting professional treatmentsfrom licensed individuals not only prevents you from seriously damaging your skin, but thedifference between how a professionally trained skincare specialist will treat your skin is verydifferent from how you can do it. So what are the three spa treatments that will replenish and revitalize your skin? 1. Microdermabrasion Treatment – This treatment uses a Microdermabrasion wand, embellished with a diamond tip, to move over and gently exfoliate the top layer of theskin. This helps to vacuum the dead cells, blackheads, and impurities that dull the skin –improving tone and texture while unveiling a brighter, clearer, and smoother complexion. 2. Dermaplaning Facial – Dermaplaning is a procedure that exfoliates your skin and getsrid of dirt and vellus hair, better known as “peach fuzz.” It’s different from dermabrasion, where an aesthetician uses a high-speed, rotating brush to exfoliate the skin. Withdermaplaning, they use a scalpel or a tool called a dermatome. 3. Micro Needling – Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure. It involves pricking the skinwith tiny sterilized needles. The small wounds cause your body to make more collagenand elastin, which heal your skin and help you look younger. You might also hear itcalled collagen induction therapy. Book an appointment After reading through the three Spa treatments above, some of you may be wondering: why can’t Ijust do this at home? The treatments listed above are quite abrasive, and if not done correctly, canseriously damage your skin. However, when conducted by a licensed professional, thesetreatments can take your skin to the next level. If you would like to book an appointment for anyor all of these services, then click on the Book Now.

Woman with Sensitive Skin suffering from rash

5 Sensitive Skin Care hacks

Breakouts and itchy skin are frequently blamed on sensitive skin. This article describes the characteristics of sensitive skin and how to identify them. This page also includes information and advice on how to properly care for sensitive skin, to reduce sensitivity, and increase skin resilience. Many people claim to have sensitive skin when they break out after using a certain product or being exposed to the sun. However, most of the time, the causes behind blotchy skin and zits are improper skin care products and terrible skin habits.Whether you are one of the many people who break out or itch after being exposed to the sun or using a product, it is a good idea to evaluate whether sensitive skin is the cause or if something else is at work. How can you know if you have sensitive skin? Sensitive skin is often thin, with visible broken capillaries under the skin’s surface.Fine pores are also characteristic of sensitive skin.Sensitive skin readily reddens when subjected to mild temperature fluctuations, whether from cold or heat. When exposed to dirt or even moderate-strength skin care products, sensitive skin tends to rash quickly. If your skin exhibits these symptoms, chances are you have sensitive skin.A dermatologist appointment is necessary for a full skin examination.Because caring for sensitive skin can be tough, it is best to minimize your usage of skin care products.Simple skin care regimes are generally more effective for sensitive skin since they avoid product overload.skin care focuses on skin strength to minimize sensitivity and enhance tolerance. What is the best way to care for sensitive skin? Dryness is a risk factor for sensitive skin, which can lead to greater sensitivity. Drinking eight glasses of water each day and using a lightweight, hypoallergenic moisturizer on a daily basis will help repair your skin’s moisture or lipid barrier, which serves as a defense mechanism against allergens. 2. Consume skin-friendly foods. Fruits, vegetables, and other water-rich diets are crucial for skin imbalance correction. These meals’ vitamin, mineral, and water content moisturize and revitalize your skin.Spicy foods, as well as alcohol and caffeinated drinks, might, on the other hand, make your skin more sensitive. 3. Avoid excessive sun exposure. Sun exposure can easily cause sensitive skin to redden and burn.Apply sunscreen to your face and sunblock lotion to your body before heading out in the sun.You may apply the same protection on your lips to keep them from darkening.Under your lipstick or gloss, use an SPF-rich lip balm to help protect your lips.Umbrellas, sunglasses, and hats shield your skin, eyes, and face from excessive sun exposure. 4. Always keep your skin protected. Even while you’re indoors, your skin requires protection. If you are staying in an air-conditioned or heated room, use a mild moisturizer on a regular basis. This will keep your skin from drying out as a result of the high temperatures. 5. Avoid items with artificial colors and scents. Colorants and perfumes are exclusively used in skin care products to increase their commercial appeal. These additives provide no benefit to your skin. They frequently trigger allergic responses and enhance the sensitivity of your skin. Aside from these suggestions, it is also a good idea to switch to skin care products designed specifically for sensitive skin.A complete skin evaluation and consultation with a dermatologist can uncover skin care strategies and products that can help strengthen and reduce the sensitivity of your skin. Mobility of hips and ankles

What Happens To Your Body When You Squat 100 Times Every Day

Squatting is one of the best exercises. There are a huge number of photos and videos on the Internet that show how much people have changed after doing squats every day. What happens to your body if you do 100 squats regularly In this article, we’ll tell you what happens to your body if you do squats regularly, so keep reading. So,  firstly, there are different types of squats. You can squat with your own weight, you can squat with additional weights, maybe dumbbells in your hands or a barbell on your shoulders, you can also do a Square jump.  However, most people who decide to squat do it classically. Legs are shoulder-width apart or slightly wider and squat to the point where their thighs are parallel to the floor. Which muscles work during doing 100 Squats a Day? The first thing that comes to mind is probably the hips and buttocks. In fact, if you start listening to them, then there is a huge amount of muscles. These are the gluteus maximus, Minimus, and medius muscles, the quadriceps muscle, and the biceps muscle of the thigh semitendinosus and semimembranosus muscles of the thigh. Adductors, hip flexors, calf muscles, rectus abdominal muscle, oblique abdominal muscles, transverse abdominal muscles, and spinal erectors. Actually, this workout uses the entire body. So the first effect that you will notice is the straightening of all those muscles that we have just listed. Specifically, both the abs and the legs. Do 100 Squats a Daying will affect muscle growth The muscles will begin to stand out, and it will become noticeable. That explains why there are so many pictures showing how people have changed before and after. Because, for example, running and cycling have virtually no effect on muscle growth, while squats affect it and will have an effect on your appearance too. For example, running and cycling have virtually no effect on muscle growth. Therefore, those people who have not been involved in sports before and have set themselves a challenge to squat every day will have significant changes in appearance in just a month. The change will be visible in photos taken before and after.  The second effect is weight loss because daily squats are a significant physical activity. The body consumes more calories, and its metabolism quickens. Therefore, those people who squat not only pump up their muscles, but in general become more ripped and lose fat. The legs are the largest muscle group in the body, so having more muscle in the largest group will raise your metabolism just by gaining more muscle, so you can be burning fat while you sleep! The second major benefit is the enhancement of blood flow and alignment of the cardiovascular system. This exercise strengthens the tone of the heart muscle and promotes blood flow to both the heart and the periphery, as well as the circulation of venous blood in the lower part of the body, because we work with our legs. Reduces Cellulite Yes, I said it is cellulite. Several studies have shown that reducing fat will reduce cellulite, as well as that if you have more muscle on your body, like I said before, your body burns more fat with more muscle. Coupled with movement, the body creates more blood flow, which hydrates the fascia. What is fascia? It is a thin, clear sheet of fibers that surrounds each muscle which connecting each other’s muscles and organs. When an individual has excess fat or does not move as much as they used to, the fascia gets dry and sticky, which in turn causes resistance in movement. You are not stiff; your fascia is just dehydrated. The fascia gets sticky and gets pocky-looking, hence the cellulite. Movement helps hydrate the fascia as well as helps the skin look smooth and supple. Squats help us to improve posture However, there is one caveat: only if we use the proper approach. Not crooked, but with a straight back, with a deflection in the lower back. As we said, squats strengthen the lower back muscles, and this will help us with posture. Endurance The next point is that your endurance will increase, because 100 squats a day have a very great effect on the work of the respiratory system, increase the vital capacity of the lungs and, generally, teach us in proper breathing coordination and control. When we inhale, we descend; when we exhale, we ascend. This is the basic principle of my strength workout. We exert effort on exhale and relax on inhale. As a result, squats will benefit both our general endurance and our respiratory system. Mobility of hips and ankles The flexibility of your hips and ankles comes next. The truth is that performing regular squats will greatly increase your limb mobility. And if knee and lower back pain is a result of a sedentary lifestyle, then squat with the right technique will help to treat them. As we said, not only the legs are involved in squats but also the core. What is Core? Core is the muscles of the abdomen and lower back. So squats will pump them perfectly, especially if there is some kind of additional weight. Of course, if you want to squat with a barbell on your shoulders, you must employ proper technique, because this exercise requires you to engage your entire body. May make a lot of mistakes very simply. Squatting with a barbell on your shoulders is a risky workout that should only be performed under the direction of a qualified instructor or an experienced athlete, show you directly how to do it properly and point out any potential errors. Squats variations So, the first type is the classic squad.  We reposition your legs shoulder-width apart, arms parallel to the torso. We take our pelvis back, bend our knees to a right angle, and exhale to return to the beginning position.  The next type is the plie squat. The gluteal muscles are given a lot more

Proper Exfoliation Tips For Your Face & Skin

How to Properly Exfoliate Your Face and Skin

Tips to Properly Exfoliate Your Face & Skin Here are various ways to achieve the smooth, beautiful, healthy skin we all desire, from consuming enough antioxidants to spending money on laser skin resurfacing. Exfoliation is still one of the finest techniques to improve the tone and texture of your skin, and it is something that we can all perform at home. But it’s also simple to go overboard by exfoliating too frequently or employing the incorrect technique for your skin type.  Learn why it’s crucial and how to properly exfoliate your skin in this article, which includes advice from Body Therapy and Skin (Wellness and skin treatment center in Manhattan Beach, CA ). In this article, we’ll discuss “exfoliation,” one of the most crucial elements in any skincare routine. One of the best things you can do for your skin is to exfoliate, which removes dead skin cells from the top layer of your skin. By just exfoliating your face, you may brighten your complexion, improve the way moisturizers and serums absorb, clarify your skin, and speed up cell renewal.  Types of Exfoliation The types of exfoliation are  physical and chemical. Both help in enhancing the texture and tone of the skin. However, deciding which of the two to use truly comes down to personal opinion and what your skin can handle. So that you can decide which method you like best, here is how to exfoliate properly using both approaches.  To smooth and refine the skin, physical exfoliation has used abrasive but gentle ingredients or equipment. You might use a facial scrub, a cleansing brush, a sponge, or a towel to accomplish this.  The majority of facial scrubs use sugar or biodegradable microbeads to physically remove dead skin cells.  Here’s how to use a facial scrub. 1- First start washing your face with your regular cleanse. 2- Then,  take a quarter size of face scrub and apply it onto your face in circular motions, just avoid the eye area.  3- Gently massage the product onto your skin for about 30 to 60 seconds. 4- Remember to keep your movements light-your exfoliant doing that work for you. 5- Once you’ve covered all the areas, rinse with warm water.  6- And then gently Pat your skin with a clean towel and follow with your regular skincare routine. As long as your skin can bear it, you can do this once a week or even three times.  Glycolic acid, salicylic acid, or fruit enzymes are examples of chemicals used in chemical exfoliants to loosen dead skin cells and promote cell turnover. Chemical exfoliants come in a variety of forms to suit your preferences. Peel pads, liquid exfoliants, and peel masks fall under this category. The simplest type of exfoliation to incorporate into your routine is probably peel pads. How to Exfoliate Your Face After cleansing, just take one of the pre-moistened pads out of the bottle and swipe it over your face, being careful to avoid the lower lashline and the area around the eyes. Afterward, you can even swipe the pads on your neck, chest, and hands. Follow up with your usual skincare routine after waiting a minute or two for the product to absorb completely.  Apply a dime-size amount of liquid exfoliant to a cotton ball or pad before using it as you would an appeal pad. Some peeling pads and liquid exfoliants are intended for daily usage, while others are not. So keep in mind to use them in accordance with the instructions on the package. Additionally, as a general rule, start with once a week whether you’re starting off or transitioning to a stronger product and then progressively work your way up.  Peel masks are quite unique. After cleansing, spread an even layer throughout your face, avoiding the eye area, using your fingertips or an applicator brush. As long as instructed, often 5 to 10 minutes, then wash off with warm water and a rag. Apply your usual skincare regimen after patting your skin dry. Precautions to Take When Exfoliating Skin The directions for various kinds of exfoliants may differ from those for the pads. So always read the label on your goods and follow the instructions.  It’s also a good idea to patch test to make sure your skin can withstand it before applying it to your face. It should be rinsed off right away if you have any negative reactions. It’s time to call your dermatologist if the irritation doesn’t go away or worsens. there you have it, then how to exfoliate your skin effectively with physical or chemical exfoliants. Advanced Physical Therapy: 5 Techniques for Maximum Recovery

Advanced Physical Therapy: 5 Techniques for Maximum Recovery

The advanced Physical Therapy, have you ever wondered what your physical therapist does to help you recover from an injury? The answer may surprise you. Your physical therapist is trained in a variety of techniques that can help you heal faster and more effectively. Here are just a few of the techniques that your PT may use to help you get back on your feet: 1. Manual therapy Many people are familiar with physical therapy, but fewer are aware of the different techniques that therapists can use to help their patients recover. One of the most effective techniques is known as manual therapy. Manual therapy is a hands-on approach that involves massaging and manipulating the muscles, joints, and connective tissues. This technique can be used to relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and improve the range of motion. Research has shown that manual therapy is particularly effective for treating injuries to the musculoskeletal system. As a result, many physical therapists have received specialized training in this area. If you are recovering from an injury or hoping to improve your overall mobility, consider seeking out a physical therapist who offers manual therapy services. With the help of a skilled professional, you can maximize your recovery and achieve your goals. 2. Electrical stimulation Electrical stimulation is a technique that can be used in physical therapy to help patients recover from injuries. This type of therapy uses electrical impulses to stimulate the muscles, which can help to reduce pain and improve circulation. Electrical stimulation can also help to promote healing by increasing the production of endorphins, which are natural pain-relieving chemicals. In addition, electrical stimulation can help to increase the range of motion and flexibility. When used in combination with other physical therapy techniques, electrical stimulation can be an extremely effective tool for helping patients recover from injuries. 3. Ultrasound therapy Ultrasound therapy is an effective treatment for a wide variety of conditions, ranging from muscle pain to arthritis. The therapy works by using sound waves to penetrate deep tissue, which in turn increases blood flow and helps to reduce inflammation. Ultrasound therapy is often used in conjunction with other forms of physical therapy, such as massage or exercise. When used correctly, ultrasound therapy can be an extremely effective tool for maximum recovery. One of the key benefits of ultrasound therapy is that it is non-invasive and gentle. The therapy is also relatively affordable and can be completed in a short amount of time. Overall, ultrasound therapy is an excellent option for those seeking an advanced form of physical therapy. 4. Hydrotherapy Hydrotherapy, also known as aquatic therapy, is a type of physical therapy that uses water to help patients heal. The benefit of hydrotherapy is that it allows patients to exercise without putting stress on their joints. The water also provides resistance, which can help to build strength and endurance. In addition, the warmth of the water can help to relax muscles and reduce pain. Hydrotherapy is often used to treat patients with arthritis, chronic pain, or injuries. It can also be used to improve balance and coordination. With the help of a trained physical therapist, hydrotherapy can be an effective way to maximize recovery and improve quality of life. 5. Therapeutic exercises Exercises are an essential part of physical therapy and can help you recover from an injury or surgery, reduce pain, and improve your overall mobility. Therapeutic exercises are designed to target specific areas of the body and can be performed using a variety of equipment. For example, rehabilitation exercises may be used to strengthen the muscles around a joint that has been damaged by arthritis. Or, if you have had a stroke, your therapist may prescribe exercises that help retrain the affected muscles. In addition to strengthening and stretching the muscles, therapeutic exercises also help to increase the range of motion and improve balance and coordination. By working with a physical therapist, you can tailor a program of therapeutic exercises that will maximize your recovery and help you return to your normal activities as soon as possible. If you are interested in looking for a holistic physical therapist, stretch therapy, or assisted mobility bodyworker in Manhattan Beach, CA, contact Body Therapy and Skin.

body fascia

What is fascia and its function?

Why Is My Body Stiff? I get this question a lot in my therapy spa. Most people have no idea what is the root cause of their limited mobility is. And most have no idea that it will keep getting worse as they age if they do not do anything about it! I am going to talk about a word that most of you have probably never heard of, and that word is called “Fascia”. I will explain what this is and how it is the root cause of most body aches, injuries, joint pain, and all-around stiffness, then I will tell you what you can do about it! What is Fascia? Fascia is a band or sheet of connective fibrous tissue, primarily collagen, beneath the skin that attaches and surrounds muscles, groups of muscles, blood vessels, and nerves. It also stabilizes, encloses, and separates muscles and other internal organs, which allows some to slide smoothly over each other within movement and others to restrict movement to protect your joints from injury. There are different types of fascia: Deep Fascia, which is mostly associated with muscles, bones, blood vessels, and nerves Superficial fascia is mostly associated with the skin Visceral(or Sub-serious) fascia- mostly associated with internal organs. Basically, if you didn’t have fascia, your muscles and organs would not stay intact or attached to the bones in your body, which also would not allow you to walk upright. Your skin is not strong enough to keep your muscles intact, but fascia is. Not much has been written or known about this material, but thankfully, a lot of new studies are being done, and we are now learning a lot more about it and what it does. Some studies have been done that say fascia is the body’s brain. They are finding that it can send signals to the brain about how the body is doing, this allows the body and brain to collect data together and offer solutions to help heal an injury, help heal an organ, or help protect an unstable movement, or even where to compartmentalize emotional stress, but the longer that emotion is kept in the body the harder and dehydrated it gets. Why Does My Body Feel Older Than It Should? The main reason is sticky, dehydrated fascia. When fascia gets dehydrated from either lack of use or excessive movement (meaning overuse, for example, a repetitive motion at a job or in a sport), physical trauma (like a car accident or surgery), or even stored emotional trauma, yes, emotion. We are emotional beings that vibrate at different frequencies; some tissue can vibrate at lower frequencies as well, and that is what we call stuck emotions or stored trauma in the body. Chances are sticky dehydrated fascia could be the culprit of your body stiffness, joint pain, and or lack of mobility. Just think of fascia as a layer of Saran Wrap wrapped around your muscles, and when it gets sticky, think of layers of Saran Wrap wrapping around the muscles, getting tighter and tighter. Eventually, the mobility will be limited. Inflamed fascia can cause a lot of restriction in movement, poor posture, and muscle imbalances can cause your body to be stiff and cause more layers of sticky fascia as well. How Do I Know If I Have Dehydrated Fascia? Does your body hurt when you sleep? Do you have a hard time doing normal daily movements, like bending down, kneeling, squatting, or crossing your legs while sitting on the ground? Does your back hurt? Have you had any injuries or breaks? Have you had any sprains or strains? Have you pulled a muscle? Do you feel stiff? Have you had emotional trauma in your life? Are you stressed? Are you active and or play a sport? Do you lift weights? Do you sit for hours at a time? Do you stand for hours at a time? Do you do repetitive motions at work? Do you sleep on your side? If you answered yes to any of these, chances are you have fascia issues. I know you are saying, Well, everyone has or does most of it. Yes, that is what I am saying, so many have it, and no one is talking about the root cause of why they feel older than they should in their bodies. Sticky dehydrated fascia could be the culprit and should be addressed, as it gets more hydrated when we get older. Here Are Some Ways Your Body Will Benefit By Having Hydrated Fascia Improved body alignment and symmetry Increase blood flow Faster recovery from exercise Reduces the appearance of cellulite, stretch marks, and uneven skin texture breakdowns Scar tissue Reduces the risk of injury Reduces pain Improves sports performance Better mobility Faster muscle growth How Do I Hydrate My Fascia? Well, you can never get rid of it, but you can release it by hydrating it! And how do you hydrate it, you might ask? By stimulating blood flow to allow it to become lubricated again. You can do this with many forms: Deep Tissue Massage Scraping Cupping Percussion/vibration Foam rolling Movement Assisted Stretching or self-stretching Heat/ hot showers/bath Acupuncture Releasing emotional trauma Having less stress in your life Positive thoughts Detoxing your body Getting your chakras aligned so emotions can flow through easily Here at Body Therapy and Skin, we focus on the range of motion assessments to tell us where the fascia is sticky in the body. We apply all types of fascia release techniques for all types of individual needs. From traction of the spine to scraping of the feet and body, to full-body Assisted Stretching, we do it all here! If you are in pain, come see us at our Manhattan Beach, CA location.

What’s The Difference: Dermabrasion vs Dermaplaning

In this article, we will discuss the differences and similarities between dermabrasion and dermaplaning. The importance of exfoliation Exfoliation is a part of any good skincare routine, whether that be on the face or the body. Incorporating exfoliating agents into your skincare provides numerous benefits: it removes dead skin cells, unclogs pores, brightens skin, and increases skincare products’ efficacy by boosting absorption. When you cultivate a long-term exfoliation routine, you will enhance collagen production, which will result in glowing, youthful skin that is free from lines and wrinkles. However, if not done the right way, exfoliation can be harmful to the skin. Skincare routines range from person to person, and what may be suitable for one person, may not suit someone else. Safely incorporate exfoliation into your routine As we’ve discussed, exfoliating can be beneficial to the health of one’s skin, but if done incorrectly to aggressive it can cause more harm than good. First things, let’s discuss chemical and physical exfoliation. Chemical exfoliation involves the use of enzymes, beta hydroxy acids (BHAs) such as salicylic acid, or alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) such as glycolic acid to dissolve dead skin cell buildup from the surface of your skin—all without physically having to scrub the skin. Physical exfoliation manually dislodges dirt and strips away surface-level dead skin with textured bits and grainy particles. Despite how scary chemical exfoliation may sound it usually is the better alternative when compared to physical exfoliation: it’s far more effective, and much less abrasive to the skin when compared to physical exfoliation. Although physical exfoliation was once considered the gold standard when it came to exfoliation, since the general public has become more educated on the topic of skincare, people are now aware that chemical exfoliation is the better alternative. Secondly, though some people may be able to handle daily exfoliation, others cannot. And even if your skin seems to be handling it well, do not overdo it because you risk the chance of desensitizing your skin and disrupting your skin’s moisture barrier, so be sure to use a mild formula if you’re exfoliating daily. Lastly, as with any new skincare product when beginning your exfoliating journey, make sure to patch test new products on your arm before applying them to your face. Now that you know what exfoliation is and how to incorporate it safely into your skincare regimen, let’s discuss the professional-grade exfoliating procedures that will take your skin to the next level: Microdermabrasion and Dermaplaning, While both offer the benefits of exfoliation, they each have their additional benefits and are better suited for particular people. Microdermabrasion Treatment This treatment uses a Microdermabrasion wand, embellished with a diamond tip, to move dirt and gently exfoliate the top layer of the skin. This helps to vacuum the dead skin cells, blackheads, and impurities that dull the skin – improving tone and texture while unveiling a brighter, clearer, and smoother complexion. This treatment suits those with non-sensitive skin since this treatment is a little too harsh for people with sensitive skin, rashes or eczema . If you have a skin condition that causes redness like rosacea, or simply sensitive skin that reddens easily, microdermabrasion might be too aggressive for your skin type and could potentially worsen that which you already have. Dermaplaning Facial Dermaplaning is a procedure that exfoliates your skin and gets rid of dirt and vellus hair, better known as “peach fuzz.” It’s different from microdermabrasion, where an aesthetician uses a high-speed, rotating brush to exfoliate the skin. With dermaplaning, they use a scalpel or a tool called a dermatome. Dermaplaning is suited for all skin types, even clients whose skin is sensitive or prone to redness. Microdermabrasion vs Dermaplaning If you have any big events coming up for which you don’t want your skin to be red and in the process of healing, dermaplane is probably the better option. If you want one of the top non-surgical methods to refresh and restore facial skin then microdermabrasion is for you. In weighing the benefits of each procedure, please keep in mind that there is no one correct choice. Your specific skin concerns and needs will determine the best option for you.
